Imagine you are traveling in a plane which is supposed to take you to your destination, but what if it doesn’t take you to your destination and when you get off the plane you find out that three decades have passed.
In this article, I will discuss about:
- Mysterious incidents that happened in the past, which made people think that time travel is possible.
- Newton and Einstein’s views on time travel, which will ultimately answer the question: Is time travel possible?
1) In 1955, “Flight 914, Douglas DC-4″, took off from New York to Miami, Florida, carrying 57 passengers and 5 crew members. The plane disappeared from radar mid-way without a trace. Search operations were launched, but all were unsuccessful and failed. After many attempts at last, the airline declared the plane missing and the case was closed.
“In 1992 a mysterious incident occurred at the airport of Caracas, the capital of Venezuela.”
A flight that was not on the air traffic control radar contacted the airport control room and asked for permission to land. When the air traffic control chief “Juan De La Corte” was asked the name of the plane and where it was coming from, the chief was completely shocked to know that the name of the plane was “Flight-914, Douglas DC-4” and wanted to land in “Miami, Florida.” The chief said that this is not Miami but Caracas airport in Venezuela. The pilot asked for permission to land the plane, the plane was allowed to land in Venezuela.
“The pilot panicked when he saw the view of the airport. He panicked even more when he realized that it was 1992 and almost three decades had passed. Suddenly he started the plane and took off from the airport and the plane was never seen again.”
What happens when you and your friend are discussing time travel and a third person comes and says I am a time traveler from 2036?
2) In the early 2000s an anonymous man named, “John Titor,”appeared on Internet forums. “He introduced himself as an American soldier and claimed to be a time traveler
Many questions arose in people’s minds:
What he is doing here? how he reached?
This news went viral and caught everyone’s attention. In addition, he said that he is on a mission to retrieve a 1975 IBM 1500 computer in order to fix a software bug in the computer of his time. Everyone was surprised but still people did not believe it, they thought that all this is a fantasy.
On this John Titor posted the design of his time machine and made some predictions:
- Civil war in America,
- global nuclear conflict,
- technological breakthroughs.
One day John Titor mysteriously vanished and left no evidence behind. Some of his predictions were accurate but some were not. But it was also quite surprising that how someone’s predictions could be so accurate.
Before accepting this incident as true, let us see what “Newton and “Einstein ” said about “time travel:
- According to “Newton,” time is absolute and moves only in forward direction and it is same for everyone irrespective of their place. So, for Newton time travel was not possible.
- According to “Einstein,” time is relative and it’s value can change. “Time travel is possible only when the speed is close to or equal to the speed of light and in places where gravity is high such as- black hole.”
- This theory supports time travel to the future but if I talk about time travel to the past then it is even more difficult.
Theories like wormholes support time travel to the past and future but this “theory gives rise to a paradox called grandfather paradox. In short, theoretically time travel is possible but there is no practical proof of it. Till now no such time machine has been made that can take us on time travel.
I have presented the past events and the physics behind it in front of you all. Because I am a physics student. So, it would be a bit difficult for me to believe this incident to be true.
