No legacy is so rich as honesty.
— William Shakespeare
In this article I will tell you what honesty gives us and what dishonesty takes from us. Before those who believe in shortcuts, honesty is costly. It gives you the confidence that “you are on the right path.”
It’s a bit difficult for an honest person to survive in this world, let’s all move ahead together and make it easier.
Dishonesty is like a fluid which takes the shape of any vessel without any specific structure. Similarly dishonesty too is easily influenced without any proper opinion. There are many areas where you have to be honest, I will discuss some of them to give you an idea of how satisfying it is to be honest.
1) Be honest about your actions and reactions:
Try to uncover your shortcomings by listening to others’ opinions about you or by talking to yourself. Not everyone wants a change in you because they want to criticize you, but this change is inevitable. If a small change can bring about positive change then don’t wait. If many people are saying the same thing about you then do not ignore it, check thoroughly whether what they are saying is true or not.
“I can’t change myself for people so why should I pay attention to them”
This is not a good approach but take it this way, “they are my loved ones so if they are pointing out some flaws in me then it might be true.”
Is there any other way?
If this way is difficult then I have another way for you:
Sit alone and talk to yourself:
- If you are a person who doesn’t want others opinion or their opinion doesn’t matter to you then the second way or you can say “magic trick”, will definitely work for you.
- I strongly believe that our soul keeps telling us from time to time what mistakes we are making, what is right and what is wrong. What mistakes you have made in the past, what mistakes you are making, the soul always has a record of it.
- You just have to spend some time with yourself and literally ask about all your mistakes, believe me, you will definitely get an unbiased opinion.
- Instead of making excuses after getting the answers, accept your mistakes and promise yourself that you will not do it again.
2) Be honest when choosing your area:
- You are choosing the field based on the majority or you have some examples of how much someone is earning in that field. So, you are also ready to make the same plan. Let me tell you, this is the worst way for career growth.
- The field does not guide you but your talent guides you as to which field you should move forward in. It is better to walk alone than being a part of the crowd, this attitude gives you fruitful results.
- I am not against discussing with parents and experienced person. They would definitely know about your talent, but they might not know what field you are interested in.
What do you want?
You pursue the goal without knowing your interest and eventually you start regretting and it becomes your worst choice OR you are pursuing the goal as per your interest and ultimately it is giving you unexpected results.
“The choice is yours, make the right choice.”
3) Honesty in work:
“Whether you are a student, businessman, doctor, engineer or housewife, always be honest towards your work.”
- If you are a student then studies should be your main focus. One of the biggest misconceptions is that studying just a few days before the exam will give you satisfactory results. Nothing is free, if you want good marks and gain knowledge then you need to work hard.
- If you are a housewife then you will have to take care of your family members. It is your responsibility to prepare healthy food, ask about their likes and dislikes, do not consider it a burden. Your family members are dependent on you, indirectly they are in need here. Cook and serve food with a lot of love. So that if they want more, they feel free to eat it.
If you are a working person then you must be dedicated towards your work instead of procrastinating. Taking advantage of the innocent, cheating, taking someone’s credit. If you are doing this then stop it from today itself. Because, as I mentioned earlier, you are under the supervision of the universe.
4) Honesty in relationship:
“Honesty is an important aspect of a good and healthy relationship. Try to make your relationship transparent, whether it is the relationship of, “father, mother, sister, brother, husband, wife, daughter and son etc.”
- If you find something good or bad in their behavior, express your feelings honestly. Tell them why you like their company and why you don’t.
- If they are not on the right path then it is your duty to tell them the pros and cons of the path they have chosen. Your honesty is not liked by the people in your life, it means they are not real ones.
- Proceed straight ahead regardless of outcome Honesty will definitely help you find genuine people in your life.
5) Honesty in money:
- No such person has ever been born who has not received the fruits of his actions.
“Mark my words”
“If you have cheated someone of money then you will have to pay for it.”
- The constitution of the universe is impartial which gives fair decisions, we are under the surveillance of the universe. Every single moment, every activity is being watched by the universe.
- Good deeds do not bring wealth, nor do they assure that you will live happily ever after. Money has a expiry date, after that you get nothing from it.
- No one is born with good or bad habits, as we grow up we learn some things from our surroundings and start applying them in our life.
“Don’t be discouraged. You can start your journey again at any point in life.”
